Brass Soldering Flux
Superior Flux offers several brass soldering fluxes. Our fluxes offer effective soldering while minimizing the reddening often seen when soldering brass (caused by the de-zincification of the brass alloy). We also offer Copper Soldering Flux for general copper soldering applications, as well as Radiator Fluxes for copper-brass radiators.
Superior No. 30 and its variations ship as “non-hazardous” and are RoHS compliant.
Superior No. 90 Brass Soldering Flux is a halide-free flux ideal for brass soldering applications. Free of any halide-bearing acids, No. 90 solders brass while causing minimal to no de-zincification of the brass, and thus none of the reddening typically present when soldering brass. Though halide-free No. 90 has robust activators and can be used in torch soldering applications, as well as with soldering irons, hot plates, etc. No. 90 brass soldering flux is ideal for both artisanal and industrial applications. Residues from No. 90 are water-soluble.
Superior No. 90 Paste is a brass soldering flux that offers the advantages of No. 90 (effective soldering of brass with minimal to no de-zincification or reddening), and also offers the advantages of a paste flux. Paste fluxes offer precision application, stronger adhesion of flux to surface (particularly advantageous in vertical or underside horizontal spaces) and sometimes the ability to place more flux at a joint than would be possible with a liquid flux. Like No. 90, No. 90 Paste can be soldered with a torch, as well as with soldering irons, hot plates, ovens, etc. Residues from No. 90 Paste are water-soluble.
Superior No. 520B is a chloride-free, high activity flux for brass soldering. No. 520B offers greater activity and a wider temperature range than No. 90 or No. 90 Paste. No. 520B Brass Soldering Flux is ideal for industrial applications.No. 520B can be diluted with water, from a range of 1:1 all the way to 1:10, making it an economical choice.Residues from No. 520B are non-hygroscopic and certainly less corrosive than residues from more traditional Zinc Chloride fluxes, but these water-soluble flux residues should be cleaned off with water after soldering is complete.
